How to assign virtual ip address in linux. Ip Address Alias [Ip Address VIRTUAL]
Ip Address Alias is a condition, in which we are required to use two or more Ip Address in the NIC (just One network adapter). As if our computer has two NICs, and connected in two or more different networks.
Still in the interfaces file, just add scripts to Ip Alias,, just add sub-numbers behind the name of the original interface. Eg eth0: 0, eth0: 1, eth0: 2 or eth1: 0, eth1: 1, etc. and do not need to add gateway.
nano / etc / network / interfaces
# The loopback network interface
# The local network interface
# The local alias network interface
auto eth0: 0
iface eth0: 0 inet static
auto eth0: 1
iface eth0: 1 inet static
Do not forget to always restart the networking service, every time you finish configuring.
service networking restart
